ATLANTA, Ga. – In their second day at the I-75 Challenge, the Colonials fell to UNC-Greensboro, 8-4 and dropped a result to Georgia Tech, 9-1. RMU is now 1-7 overall to begin the 2024 campaign. UNC-Greensboro is currently 7-9 and Georgia Tech moves up to 7-7 overall.
GAME 1 VS. UNC-GREENSBORO
- Right off the bat, RMU took a 1-0 lead as Catalina Saxen earned another RBI, hitting a double to bring in Meadow Sacadura.
- Later in the fourth inning, the Colonials went on a rally scoring three more runs. Alaina Koutsogiani, Kaylyn Hopf and Anna Resnik all produced RBI's while Avery Winchell, Charlotte Grover and Courtney Poulich each crossed home plate.
- UNCG began their comeback in the fifth inning, scoring one run off a triple.
- In the sixth inning, the Spartans hit a two-run homer to make it a one run game.
- Reaching the final inning, UNCG put players on bases and brought in a run to tie up the game. For the final at-bat, their left fielder cranked a grand slam to win the game, 8-4.

Charlotte Grover also walked twice. In the circle,
Jane Garver threw for 5.2 innings and completed four strikeouts.
GAME 2 VS. GEORGIA TECH
- Entering game two of the day, the Colonials struck first once again.
- Junior infielder Alaina Koutsogiani blasted a home run to open the scoring in the second inning as RMU took a 1-0 lead.
- Onto the next inning, the Yellow Jackets gained a 4-1 lead as Mallorie Black hit a three-run homer.
- In the fifth inning, Georgia Tech gathered three more runs, making it a 7-1 game.
- And, across the sixth inning, two Yellow Jackets hit a solo home run to secure a 9-1 victory at the I-75 Challenge.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Against Georgia Tech, junior
Madison DeVault was the starting pitcher for the Colonials. She went 4.1 innings and produced two strikeouts. Junior
Jaimee Hardy also stepped in, throwing for 2/3 an inning and struck out both batters she faced. Peters Township native
Alaina Koutsogiani blasted out her team leading second home run of the season. Currently, she ranks first on the Colonials in several categories: batting average (.348), runs (5), hits (8) and RBI's (6).
