DETROIT – Stephaun Walker scored a career-high 21 points while Josh Corbin (20 points and 11 rebounds) and Markeese Hastings (10 points and 10 rebounds) each added a double-double in RMU's 75-67 victory over Detroit Mercy Saturday afternoon.
 
With the win, the Colonials get a split on their four-game roadtrip and improve to 9-15, 5-7 HL while the Titans are still looking for their first victory of the season at 0-24, 0-13 HL.  


1^st HALF
RMU jumped out to a 14-4 lead behind six points from Hastings. By the under-8-minute media timeout, the Colonials doubled-up the Titans 20-10. Corbin's 3-pointer at 1:42 made the score 35-22 and gave the Colonials their largest lead of the game at 13 points. Walker closed out the scoring with a driving layup that sent the game into halftime with RMU ahead 37-25.


2^nd HALF
A 16-4 UDM run that began at the 15:32 mark tied the contest at 50-50 at the midway point of the half. However, the Colonials did not allow the Titans to take the lead. Chris Ford's first 3-point attempt of the season went down with 47.1 seconds remaining as time expired on the shot clock gave RMU a 70-63 advantage. The Colonials hit their final four free throws inside of 22 seconds to seal the game.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS
In addition to his career-high 21 points, Walker set personal bests with nine field goals. Corbin set a career-high with 11 rebounds. The Colonials had season-bests with 28 second chance points and outrebounded the Titans 44-20.

"I give our guys a lot of credit, in those last rounds of the game we were able to win it after they tied the score. Josh was everywhere today, he did so many things that contributed to our win. A couple guys challenged Steph during a timeout and you saw the response. He did a really good job balancing, developing and finishing. We came up with some stops when we really needed them."
