MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU Softball will start their 2024 season down in Spartansburg, S.C. The first set of games will be on Friday, February 9 as the Colonials will face George Mason at 3:00 PM and then the second game in the tournament at 5:30 PM. On Saturday, RMU will then take on Eastern Kentucky at 10:00 AM. Upon results in the tournament, the Colonials can advance to play more games on Saturday and Sunday.
ROSTER REVIEW
Shortstop
Charlotte Grover enters her senior year. She's coming off a successful season, playing in all 47 games for RMU in 2023. She owned a team-high .257 batting average, 35 hits and three home runs. She was also second on the roster in RBI's (25) and walks (24). Next to her on the diamond is second baseman
Anna Resnik. The incoming junior from Elizabeth Forward High School appeared in all 47 games last year as well. She was second in the lineup in batting average (.244) and third on the team in hits (31). Together, Grover and Resnik have each started in 98 consecutive games together. Consistently at third base in 2023 with a team-high 29 runs was
Alaina Koutsogiani. Out of Peters Township, the junior finished first in doubles (9) and triples (2) for the Colonials last season. And, at first-base,
Avery Winchell returns to RMU for her last year of collegiate softball. Winchell hit .236 this past year and hit a team-high 27 RBI's and three home runs. Her 27 RBI's ranked sixth in the Horizon League. Rounding out the diamond on defense, catcher
Meadow Sacadura comes into 2024 as a redshirt-junior. Behind the plate, Sacadura posted 32 hits and 21 RBI's. She threw out a base runner stealing on 12 occasions.
Contributing to the roster in the outfield is senior
Catalina Saxen. In last year's campaign she appeared in 37 games and provided 10 RBI's. She performed well this past season in pinch-hit at-bats. Slap-hitter
Julia Ehrman played in 45 contests and was 9-12 on her stolen base attempts. In 44 games last season for RMU, junior Jess Methany produced 20 hits and nine RBI's. And,
Kinsey Ventura for her senior year is a lefty batter for the Colonials that pinch hit on several occasions for RMU. She recorded 11 hits and seven RBI's in 2023. Headlining the pitching staff for the Colonials will be senior
Jane Garver and junior
Madison DeVault as the team's anchors in the circle. From Ligonier, Pa., Garver won seven games last season and paced for a 2.97 ERA. She reached 69 strikeouts in 77.2 innings pitched. Her teammate DeVault also won seven contests. Out of Dover, Ohio, she registered a 3.20 ERA, pitched five complete games and threw 68 strikeouts in 81 innings.
LOCAL FLAVOR
13 student-athletes on the roster this season are from the state of Pennsylvania. Several played their prep ball in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) and competed in Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) playoffs.
ALL-TIME VS. GEORGE MASON
Since 1991, RMU has only played George Mason on four occasions. The Patriots have won three of those contests. Last season, the Colonials traveled to the Tar Heel State to begin their season at the Runnin' Bulldog Classic and faced George Mason twice. RMU lost two close games to the Patriots.

ALL-TIME VS. WOFFORD
Playing at Wofford's home field, this will be the first time in program history both these teams collide.
ALL-TIME VS. EASTERN KENTUCKY
RMU and Eastern Kentucky have only played once. The contest happened back in 2009 at the Orlando Rebel Spring Games. The Colonials won 1-0, shutting out the Colonels.
