FORT WAYNE, Ind. – RMU's season came to an end after falling 78-63 to Purdue Fort Wayne in the First Round of the Barbasol Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship on Tuesday night.
1st HALF
After RMU fell behind 6-0 early,
Justice Williams scored eight straight points for the Colonials to even the score at the 16:20 mark. A 15-0 run gave the Mastodons a 33-14 advantage at the 7:28 mark. Purdue Fort Wayne's lead would get as high as 24 points as they took a 46-28 lead into halftime.
2nd HALF
The Colonials started the 2
nd half on fire, as a 14-1 run - including 10 straight points – made the score 50-43 at the 14:20 mark. Back-to-back layups from
Chris Ford and
Josh Corbin made it a two-possession game at 52-47 heading into the under-12 media timeout. However, by the under-4 media timeout, Purdue Fort Wayne rebuilt its lead to 13 points.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
TJ Wainwright scored 14 points off the bench.
Markeese Hastings,
Alvaro Folgueiras and
Josh Corbin added 12, 12 and 10, respectively. Hastings pulled down eight rebounds.
Eric Mulder recorded a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds. Quinton Morton-Robertson had a game-high 17 points and Jalen Jackson added 16 for the Mastodons.
