MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU Softball heads to DeLand, Fla. this weekend for a three-game series at Stetson. Saturday's double-header will begin at 1:00 PM and Sunday's single-game starts at 12:00 PM. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+ from Patricia Wilson Field.
RMU LATELY
RMU (2-9) is coming off a series split in Johnson City, Tenn., against East Tennessee State. The Colonials fell the first game 3-2 in extra innings (8) but climbed back to win the next contest, 4-1 in nine innings. Senior pitcher
Jane Garver threw a career-high nine innings, battling in the circle the whole game. She threw six strikeouts against the Bucs. Her previous high was 8.1 innings during her sophomore campaign, as the Colonials won at Detroit Mercy, 4-2 (3/18/22). To win game two in the top of the ninth inning,
Jess Matheny hit a single to left field, advancing both runners on base. Pinch-running,
Madison DeVault earned her first run of the season, giving the Colonials a 2-1 lead. Producing the game-winning RBI, Matheny wrapped around the bases to home plate along with
Charlotte Grover off an RBI-single to deep center field by Hopf. Over the weekend, freshman outfielder
Kaylyn Hopf led the team in RBI's with three in two games.

ALL-TIME VS. STETSON
Overall, the Colonials are 2-4 all-time against the Hatters. The first time the two sides played against each other was all the way back in 1993. RMU swept Stetson, winning 2-1 and 4-2. Both programs met once again in 1998. This time, the Hatters won 2-0 and 3-2. RMU has not faced Stetson in six years as the last time they played was on March 6 of 2018. In the double-header, the Hatters won 5-4 and 2-0.
SCOUTING STETSON
Stetson has already played in 21 contests in 2024, owning a 7-14 overall record. As of late, the Hatters appeared in the Tennessee Classic Tournament. Over the tournament, Stetson earned one win and three losses. Upon a quick turnaround, the Hatters traveled to UCF for one game and fell, 4-2.
