MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Cleveland State avoided being swept by earning a 6-2 victory over RMU, Sunday afternoon. The Colonials now own a 14-20, 9-9 #HLSB record. The Vikings are now 15-19 overall and are 11-7 in conference play.
GAME 3
- After a scoreless first inning, the visitors rallied in the top of the second inning to take control of the game.
- Cleveland State scored five runs off a sacrifice fly, error and a three-run homer by their lead off hitter.
- RMU responded in the bottom of the second inning.
- Charlotte Grover took a walk to get a runner on base. Courtney Poulich followed up with a blast to the opposite side of the field to make it a 5-2 score.
- Entering the third inning, the Vikings added on one more run. With bases loaded, Peyton Mueller-Stenz walked to earn an RBI and bring in a run.
- For the remainder of the game, neither team scored as the Vikings held on to a 6-2 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
On the day, the Colonials posted six hits and the Vikings registered seven. Junior
Anna Resnik led RMU in hits with two and
Courtney Poulich produced both runs, earning her third home run of the season. Senior
Charlotte Grover showed patience at the plate, recording two walks. In the circle,
Kailani Tatro threw for two innings to start the game. Senior
Jane Garver then pitched for one inning and posted one strikeout. Junior
Jaimee Hardy finished out the final four innings for the Colonials. She didn't allow a run and only gave up two hits.
UP NEXT
RMU's home schedule is now officially complete. With a quick turnaround, the Colonials will now head to Detroit Mercy for a two-game series to be played tomorrow. The double-header is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
