YPSILANTI, MI – The RMU women's lacrosse team won their final regular season game of the year against MAC foe Eastern Michigan, 12-10.
With the win, the Colonials jumped to 6-11, 4-2 MAC while the Eagles fell to 7-9, 4-2 MAC.
1st HALF
The Colonials began the game on the offensive front with two straight goals from
Chelsea Coleman and
Colleen Tifft. RMU recorded a game-high seven shots on goal in the first quarter as they kept pressure on the Eagles defense. The Colonials finished the frame on a 2-0 run courtesy of

Samantha Brothers.
RMU didn't have the same success in the second quarter with just one goal from
Jenna Irwin in the frame. The Colonials only had one draw control and drew five penalty cards but managed to hold a 6-5 going into halftime.
2ND HALF
Chelsea Coleman led the RMU offensive resurgence as she posted three out of her four goals in the third quarter. The Colonials defense stepped up as well coming out of the break allowing just two Eastern Michigan goals with
Sydney Riker making a game-high five saves in the third frame.
The start of the fourth quarter didn't go as planned for RMU as the Eagles scored three straight goals to tie the game at 10 with 4:29 remaining. However,
Jenna Irwin broke that tie just a minute later to give the Colonials the lead which turned out to be the game-winner. Irwin added another goal with 2:47 left to put the game on ice and give the Colonials a much-needed win.
POSTSEASON BOUND
With the Colonials win over the Eagles, RMU is officially the number two seed in the MAC Championship Tournament. The Colonials will turn around and play Eastern Michigan again next Thursday, May 2
nd at 4:00 p.m. This will be the fourth year in a row that RMU has made the MAC Championship Tournament since they moved into the conference in 2021.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Chelsea Coleman and
Jenna Irwin each led the Colonials with four goals as Irwin added two assists for a total of six points.
Isabella Teal,
Samantha Brothers,
Colleen Tifft, and
Eliana LaMange all finished the game with one goal.
Julia Koterwas tied a career-high with three assists against the Eagles while
Sydney Riker finished the contest with 12 saves and three ground balls.
UP NEXT
The Colonials will travel to Central Michigan next Thursday as the Chippewas are the host of the MAC Championship Tournament. RMU will battle Eastern Michigan on Thursday, May 2
nd at 4:00 p.m. for the right to play in the MAC Championship game.
