MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU softball team begins play in the 2024 Horizon League Championships hosted by Youngstown State on Wednesday. The Colonials (18-22, 13-10 #HLSB) are the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 Northern Kentucky (22-20, 14-10 #HLSB). First pitch is scheduled for noon.
BEST TIME OF THE YEAR
- Heading into the playoffs, the Colonials are 8-4 over their last 12 games. During that stretch, RMU picked up series wins over Oakland, Cleveland State, Northern Kentucky and a series sweep at Detroit Mercy.
- Across the Horizon League, graduate first baseman Avery Winchell ranks fourth in home runs with six. Senior Charlotte Grover's 18 walks are good for fifth-best in the conference and freshman Kaitlyn Molitoris's 2.73 ERA also ranks in the top five.
- Winchell has produced a season-high 26 RBI and is leading the Colonials in slugging percentage (.476).
- Leading off the top of the order, Catalina Saxen, Kaylyn Hopf and Anna Resnik all own a team-high 37 hits.
- Redshirt-sophomore Courtney Poulich has hit three home runs in her last 10 games.
- Over 74 innings of work, Madison DeVault's 73 strikeouts are the sixth most in the Horizon League.

SCOUTING NKU
Across their last two conference series, NKU went 3-3. Ella LeMonier and Jena Rhoads earned All-League First Team honors and Maddie Lacer, Olivia Pastin and Lauryn Hicks were named to the second team. Freshman Brooklyn Ballis was tabbed to the All-Freshman Team.
ALL-TIME AGAINST NKU
The programs have met 13 times since the series began in 2017. RMU holds a 9-4 edge in the all-time series. The Colonials have won seven of the last nine meetings, including four shutouts. Senior

With a win, the Colonials would face No. 1 seed Youngstown State at 12:00 PM on Thursday, May 9. If RMU loses, they'll play the loser between No. 3 Cleveland State and No. 6 IUPUI tomorrow night at 5:00 PM in an elimination game.
