MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU softball team welcomes three transfers ahead of the 2025 season, as announced by Head Coach
Jexx Varner.
The incoming class includes one pitcher and two infielders.
"We are really excited to add Lilly, Sequoia, Maddie and their respective families to our program," said Varner. "They are great young women who will add to our team, this department and the University as a whole. We were very intentional when we looked in the portal this summer and we feel we hit all our marks in helping reload this team as we chase down a Horizon League title."
Madelyn Coleman
Pitcher | Junior | Ellicott City, Md. | B/T: L/R | Ht: 5-11
- Transfer from Mount St. Mary's
- Owns seven career wins, two saves and 99 strikeouts
- Led the Mount in strikeouts (50) and complete games (5) last season
- Named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team (2023)
- 3x member of the President's List and 1x member of the Dean's List at Mount St. Mary's
Why RMU?
"I loved the sense of community brought about on the campus. The campus itself is beautiful and offers a wide variety of academic, athletic and social opportunities. I appreciated the familial nature of the softball program, particularly the coaching staff and I look forward to bringing home a conference championship."
Varner on Coleman: "Maddie is a strong, smart and very driven pitcher. She comes to Bobby Mo with a lot of positive experience in her college career. She will add depth to our strong pitching staff and provide a different look from our other pitchers while having battle tested success under her belt. She had a stellar freshmen year and Coach Sam Santillo is really excited to find that success again and develop those tools into consistent execution in the circle."
Lilly Stump
Shortstop/Second Baseman | Junior | Lincolnton, N.C. | B/T: R/R | Ht: 5-5
- Transfer from Winthrop
- In 49 career games, owns a .221 batting average, three doubles, three runs batted in and a .928 fielding percentage
Why RMU?
"I fell in love with RMU the second I stepped on campus. RMU felt like home. Everyone was so encouraging and it was a very positive environment."
Varner on Stump: "Lilly is a great young woman from a wonderful family. From the first phone call and her family's first time on campus, we knew she would be a "culture add" to our program. She is an athletic middle infielder who has great experience and has shown quality success at our level against good competition. We're really looking forward to her leadership abilities as well, regardless of coming in as a transfer to our program."
Sequoia Dunlap
Shortstop/Third Baseman | Redshirt Freshman | Uniontown, Pa. | B/T: R/R | Ht: 5-7
- Transfer from Towson
- Played in three games with three starts as a freshman before injury ended her season
- Made her collegiate debut in the season opener and had her first career hit against Toledo
Why RMU?
"RMU gave me a sense of home that I didn't feel anywhere else. A big part of why I wanted to transfer was because I needed that sense of family to be the best athlete I can be and RMU is giving me that opportunity."
Varner on Dunlap: "Sequoia is another Western PA talent that has come home to compete for championships. She is extremely athletic and strong. She had her freshman year cut short due to injury but was ready to start immediately in the infield last year. We had the pleasure of watching her grow and get better each year before college. We look forward to being a part of her development and seeing the impacts she will make on our program."
