EMMITSBURG, Md. – The RMU men's soccer team pulled off a comeback to earn a 3-3 draw against Mount St. Mary's, with both teams now holding a 0-1-1 to begin the season.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- RMU displayed strong defensive discipline throughout the first half, limiting the Mount to just one shot in the 40th minute.
- The Colonials broke the deadlock in the 39th minute after Logan Gilley was fouled in the box, earning a penalty. Captain Gabe Norris confidently converted from the spot, slotting the ball into the right-side netting to give RMU a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- The second half saw a surge in offensive action, with five goals scored between the two teams.
- Mount St. Mary's quickly responded in the opening eight minutes of the half, equalizing on their fifth shot of the period.
- In the 62nd minute, the Mount took the lead through a goal by Junee Lee, followed by a second goal from Abou Cherif seven minutes later, extending their advantage to 3-1.
- RMU responded with urgency, unleashing a series of shots on the Mount's goal.
- In the 74th minute, Fabian Overkamp headed in a powerful goal off a corner kick delivered by Anass Hadran, narrowing the deficit to 3-2.
- Just minutes later, Hadran delivered another pinpoint cross, this time finding William Dodzi Afawubo at the back post. Afawubo's one-timer beat the keeper, leveling the score at 3-3.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
RMU dominated the shot count, outshooting Mount St. Mary's 21-9 and placing nine shots on target compared to the Mount's six. The Colonials also earned six corner kicks to the Mount's three, though the home side held 59% of the possession. Scoring their first goals of the season were Norris, Overkamp, and Afawubo. For Overkamp and Afawubo, these were their first career goals, while Norris notched his fifth career tally. Hadran's two assists bring his career total to seven. Goalkeeper

Tayshaun Reid earned his first career start, logging 64 minutes in his collegiate debut. German defenders
Mats Bramer and
Tim Koczulap saw their first minutes of the season, and Alexandre made his collegiate debut, playing nine minutes in the midfield.
