RMU Women's Soccer Prepares for Saint Francis

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's soccer team returns home to the North Athletic Complex, where they will host Saint Francis on Thursday, August 29 at 4:00 PM. Fans can catch the action live on ESPN+ with Spencer Witt providing commentary.
 
RMU LATELY
RMU (1-1-1, 0-0-0 #HLWSOC) is coming off a road trip in Indiana, where they secured a 2-2 draw against Southern Indiana before falling 4-0 to Indiana State. The Colonials showed resilience in their matchup with Southern Indiana, coming back in the second half with goals from Paloma Swankler and Haleigh Finale to earn the draw. Against Indiana State, goalkeeper Brenna Murray made eight saves, with sophomore Ava Trethewey leading the offensive effort with three shots.
 
ALL-TIME VS. SAINT FRANCIS
The Colonials hold a 9-20-3 all-time record against the Red Flash, dating back to 1992. Recently, RMU has found success in this matchup, winning the last two meetings, 4-1 in 2022 and 2-1 last season. Finale has been a standout in this series, contributing two goals and two assists over three matches. Junior Renae Mohrbacher has also made an impact with two assists, while Swankler and Malia Kearns have each registered an assist against Saint Francis. Brenna Murray earned the win in goal last year, recording four saves.
 
SCOUTING SAINT FRANCIS
Saint Francis (1-1-1, 0-0-0 #NEC) enters Thursday's match with the same record as RMU, having secured a 2-1 victory at Niagara, a 0-0 draw with Iona, and a 2-0 loss at YSU. Sophomore Mercedez Paino and freshman Anouk Landgraff have scored the Red Flash's two goals this season. Last year, Saint Francis finished with a 3-12-2 overall record, going 3-5-2 in NEC play. Their wins came against Delaware State, Stonehill, and Le Moyne.
 
COMMON OPPONENTS
Saint Francis will also face Horizon League member Cleveland State following their game against RMU and will conclude non-conference play at Akron, who the Colonials will host on Thursday, September 5.
 
UP NEXT
After Thursday's home match against Saint Francis, RMU will travel to Morgantown, West Va., to take on WVU on Sunday, September 1 at 5:00 PM.
