MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie against NKU in their first Horizon League conference game of the season. RMU is now 1-2-2 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- Nine minutes into the match, NKU recorded the first shot of the game.
- Two minutes later, John Paul Mbuthia registered the first shot for RMU, followed up by Chase Gilley posting the first shot on goal of the game in the 23rd minute of play.
- In the 37th minute, senior midfielder Kai McLoughlin was given a yellow card.
- Through the first half, goalkeeper Josh Lane only had to make one save to keep the game scoreless.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- A minute into the second half, defender Fabian Overkamp was issued a caution.
- Moments later, the Colonials had one of their best chances of the game off a corner kick. Mbuthia headed the ball just wide of the left post.
- In the 71st minute, Alli Taleb of Northern Kentucky received a yellow card.
- With a minute left, Lane made a diving effort to keep the game scoreless and earn his first clean sheet of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
RMU posted a total of nine shots during the game with two on net. The Norse registered six shots with three on target. Goalkeeper
