Colonials Close Homestand with Loss to Cleveland State

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball team dropped their fifth consecutive game in a loss to Cleveland State today, 74-53. The Colonials are now 5-12 and hold a 1-7 record in Horizon League play.

FIRST QUARTER
  • The Colonials played tough defense to start the game and held the Vikings to just five points in the first five minutes of action along with three turnovers.
  • However, the Vikings would strike back with back to back three pointers to take a seven-point lead.
  • Colonials forward Raissa Nsabua scored on back to back possessions to close out the quarter as RMU trailed by five.
SECOND QUARTER
  • The Vikings looked to flip the game in the second frame as Cleveland State opened up the quarter on a 13-0 run. RMU wasn't able to score until seven minutes into the stanza thanks to a Mya Murray layup.
  • RMU was in their biggest hole of the game until they found their stroke from beyond the arc with the Colonials hitting threes on three straight possessions. Katelyn Chomko, Micah O'Dell, and Noa Givon each made a three and was able cut the Vikings lead to 15 going into the half.
THIRD QUARTER
  • RMU wasn't able to score effectively in this frame as the Colonials shot a game-low 29 percent from the floor.
  • One part of the game that the Vikings controlled was the rebound department with Cleveland State outrebounding RMU 15-7 in this stanza. The Colonials entered the fourth quarter facing a 21-point deficit.
 FOURTH QUARTER
  • RMU didn't give up and shot their best percentage from the floor in this stanza at 46 percent.
  • The Colonials were very active on the defensive side in this quarter as they had a game-high three blocks and two steals.
  • Even though RMU fought back it wasn't enough as the Vikings scored 15 points of their own in this frame and would go onto win 74-53.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Noa Givon led RMU with 10 points as she was a team-high 2-3 from beyond the arc. Raissa Nsabua finished the game with nine points along with a team-high seven rebounds and four assists. Cleveland State's Mickayla Perdue led all scorers with 32 points and was 5-10 from three-point range.

RMU will go back on the road this Saturday afternoon when they travel to play Youngstown State. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN+.
