MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Senior forward
Kosi Udeh scored a decisive late goal to lift the RMU men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over IU Indy on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Colonials improve to 4-2-4 overall and remain unbeaten in Horizon League play at 2-0-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
RMU nearly opened the scoring 17 minutes into the match when
Royie Rahamim slipped past the defense and connected on a header, but his attempt bounced just wide of the post.
Moments later, the Colonials broke through.
Anass Hadran carried possession through the midfield before finding
Jack Bejarano down the left wing. Bejarano cut around a defender and fired a sharp-angled shot that deflected off the keeper and in for his second goal of the season, giving RMU the early lead.
The Colonials' back line was strong through the opening 45 minutes, limiting the Jaguars to just one shot on target before halftime.
Early in the second half, IU Indy found an equalizer after being awarded a penalty kick in the 53rd minute. Jose Antonio Herrera converted from the spot to make it 1-1.
With 13 minutes remaining, RMU regained the advantage thanks to a well-executed buildup.
Defender
Victor Thompson threaded a pass past the Jaguars' back line, connecting with
Kosi Udeh, who calmly slipped the ball past the keeper for the game-winning goal.
Victor Koah earned the secondary assist on the play as the Colonials secured all three points.
