RMU Ends Regular Season Beating Wright State, Claims No. 5 Seed in #HLMSOC Championship

DAYTON, Ohio – The RMU men's soccer team closed out the regular season with a strong two-way performance, earning a 3-0 road win over Wright State on Tuesday afternoon. With the victory, the defending #HLMSOC Champions finish the regular season at 5-3-7 overall and 3-1-5 in Horizon League play, officially clinching a postseason berth for the second straight year as the No. 5 seed in the upcoming #HLMSOC Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED
RMU came out firing, registering five shots in the opening 13 minutes before breaking through in the 23rd.

Off a long throw-in from Jaxson Lee, Fabian Overkamp flicked on a header at the near post, and Kosi Udeh pounced to slot home the opening goal for a 1-0 advantage.

The Colonials doubled their lead in the 33rd minute. Driving down the right wing, William Dodzi Afawubo slid a pass inside to Victor Koah, who took a touch and ripped a shot past the keeper for his third goal of the season to make it 2-0.

RMU carried the two-goal cushion into halftime, but Wright State pushed numbers forward. The Raiders recorded four shots in the first 20 minutes of the second half, but Josh Lane turned aside the threats — helped by Miguel Dominguez, who cleared a shot off the line to preserve the clean sheet.

In the 74th minute, Afawubo nearly added a highlight tally when his curling effort struck the post.

Moments later, RMU sealed the match as Anass Hadran buried the insurance goal off a combination from Riley Cotton and Udeh to secure the 3-0 victory.

  • RMU outshot Wright State 21-11, including 8-4 on goal. Udeh led the way with six shots (three on target).

MULTI-POINT DAY
Senior forward Kosi Udeh tallied a goal and an assist for his first career multi-point match. The Birmingham, Ala. native now owns nine goals and five assists in his RMU career.
