MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Robert Morris mounted a historic rally, overcoming a 21-point deficit to defeat Toledo 75-70 on Saturday afternoon. The comeback victory, fueled by a dominant 51-28 second-half surge, secured the second-largest single-game turnaround in RMU men's basketball history.
1st HALF
RMU started the game taking a 12-9 lead following a
Nikolaos Chitikoudis layup at the 14:19 mark. However, the game quickly turned into a dominant run by Toledo. The Rockets scored the next 23 points, putting RMU at a 20-point deficit while building a 32-12 lead. The Colonials endured an 8:25 scoring drought, which was finally broken by a free throw from
Josh Hill at the 5:53 mark. The Rockets' lead reached 21 points when Sonny Wilson's layup made the score 36-15 at 3:32. RMU went over 11 minutes without a field goal, finally breaking the streak with a 3-pointer from
Ryan Prather Jr. on the Colonials' next possession. Toledo's run defined the first half, giving them a 42-24 lead at halftime.
2nd HALF
RMU opened the second half with a 19-3 run to close the gap to 45-43 at the 14:08 mark. At 7:15, a
Cam Wilds 3-pointer tied the score at 56-56.
Ryan Prather Jr.'s free throw on the Colonials' next possession gave them the lead, marking the team's first advantage since the 14:19 mark of the first half. The game would remain a two-possession contest for the remainder, but the Colonials never relinquished the lead.
