RMU Men’s Basketball’s Defeats First Place Cleveland State 68-59

CLEVELAND – Returning to his hometown of Cleveland, Amarion Dickerson scored a game-high 21 points as RMU (19-8, 11-5 HL) outscored first-place Cleveland State (18-8, 12-3 HL) 42-29 in the second half to secure a 68-59 victory on Wednesday night at the Wolstein Center.

1st HALF
With RMU leading 7-6 early in the first half, a 9-0 Cleveland State run gave the Vikings a 15-7 lead heading into the under-12 media timeout. The Vikings extended their advantage to double digits on a Tahj Staveskie 3-pointer, making it 30-20 at the 3:31 mark. The Colonials responded by scoring the final six points of the half, cutting the deficit to 30-26 at halftime.

2nd HALF
RMU needed less than five minutes to tie the game, and a Ryan Prather Jr. 3-pointer at 14:06 gave the Colonials a 43-40 lead. With RMU ahead 48-43, Cleveland State responded with six straight points to reclaim a 49-48 advantage heading into the under-eight media timeout. However, their lead was short-lived as a pair of Dickerson free throws put RMU back on top, 50-49, at 7:51.

The Colonials extended their lead to eight points at 60-52 after Alvaro Folgueiras rebounded a missed free throw and knocked down a jumper with 3:29 remaining. Dickerson put the exclamation mark on the win with an alley-oop dunk from Kam Woods at 1:36, pushing the score to 64-53.
