MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU softball team returns to non-conference play on Tuesday, March 18, as they welcome Saint Francis University for a doubleheader at the North Athletic Complex. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM, with both games set to stream live on ESPN+ featuring commentary from Brandon Rossi.
RMU LATELY
The Colonials enter the matchup with momentum, fresh off a Horizon League series win over Oakland. After dropping the opener 3-1, RMU bounced back in dominant fashion with back-to-back five-inning victories, winning 8-0 and 11-1 to claim the series. The team showcased its power at the plate, launching four home runs over the weekend.
Jess Matheny led the charge with a career-high five RBI performance in the second game, while
Courtney Poulich added her third three-run homer of the season.
Mary Brant delivered her third home run of the year, and
Jaimee Hardy capped off the series with a walk-off homer to end the final game.In the circle, both
Madison DeVault and
Madelyn Coleman earned complete-game wins. DeVault continues to lead the RMU pitching staff with a 4.08 ERA and 25 strikeouts this season.
Brant currently tops the team in batting average (.364) and slugging percentage (.848), while Poulich leads in on-base percentage (.444), runs (13), RBI (14), and home runs (5). Leadoff hitter
Kaylyn Hopf has recorded a team-best 15 hits, and Matheny leads in doubles with five. Brant also leads the team with two triples on the year.
ALL-TIME VS. SAINT FRANCIS
RMU and Saint Francis have a long-standing rivalry that dates back to 1991. The Colonials hold a commanding 50-18-1 (.732) all-time record over the Red Flash, including 15 shutouts. Their most recent meeting came in 2019, a 12-4 RMU victory. The Colonials' longest win streak in the series came between 1991 and 1997 when they won 16 straight.
SCOUTING THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis enters Tuesday's doubleheader with a 10-13 overall record, including a 3-0 mark in Northeast Conference play following a series sweep over Stonehill. Prior to conference play, the Red Flash went 7-13 in non-conference tournament action. Junior outfielder Savannah Nash leads the offense with a .377 batting average, three home runs, 16 RBI, and six stolen bases. She also paces the team in slugging percentage (.584) and on-base percentage (.435). Senior Olivia Ulam leads SFU with eight doubles, while sophomore pitcher Allie Braly has tallied five wins and 26 strikeouts with a 3.05 ERA.

Following the doubleheader, the Colonials will resume Horizon League action on the road with a three-game weekend series at Green Bay. The series begins on Friday, March 21 at 3:00 PM ET and continues with a Saturday doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 PM ET.
