INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – RMU's impressive win streak came to a heartbreaking end as IU Indy scored two runs in the bottom of the tenth inning to secure a 7-6 victory on Friday. The Colonials now sit at 12-10 overall and 5-2 in Horizon League play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Jaguars opened the scoring early, plating a run in the bottom of the first inning off a wild pitch.
After a scoreless second inning, RMU's offense erupted in the third.
Katlyn Jardine and
Courtney Poulich were each hit by pitches, while
Logan Black singled to load the bases. Freshman
Mary Brant delivered a clutch grand slam to left field, giving RMU a 4-1 lead.
IU Indy responded in their next at-bat, narrowing the gap to 4-2 after a bases-loaded hit by pitch.
The Jaguars continued to press, scoring two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 4-4. In the sixth, they took the lead 5-4 off another wild pitch.
Facing defeat, RMU forced extra innings with a crucial play in the top of the seventh.
Logan Black reached first on a fielding error and advanced to second. After
Kaylyn Hopf reached base on an error, pinch runner
Lilly Stump crossed home plate to tie the game at 5-5.
The deadlock remained until the top of the tenth inning when
Anna Resnik singled to bring home
Katlyn Jardine, giving RMU a 6-5 lead.
However, IU Indy responded with a walk-off two-RBI double by Callie Dickerson, clinching the 7-6 victory for the Jaguars.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- IU Indy outhit RMU 11-9, while the Jaguars left 14 runners stranded compared to 13 for RMU.
- Kaylyn Hopf, Mary Brant, and Logan Black each recorded two hits. Jardine scored two runs.
- Brant's grand slam marked her first career grand slam and her sixth multi-RBI performance of the season.
- In the circle, Madison DeVault started the game, pitching 4.2 innings with four strikeouts. Kaitlyn Molitoris closed out the final five innings, recording five strikeouts.

RMU will look to bounce back and win the series tomorrow at IU Indy with a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
