MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – In front of a UPMC Events Center record crowd of 4,058, the RMU men's basketball team (24-8) advanced to the semifinal round of the 2025 Barbasol Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship with an 83-62 victory over Wright State on Thursday night. The win marked RMU's eighth straight and 14th in its last 15 games.
Kam Woods led all scorers with 19 points, while
DJ Smith added 14.
Josh Omojafo and
Ryan Prather Jr. each contributed 13, and
Alvaro Folgueiras scored 12. Brandon Noel and Michael Imariagbe paced the Raiders (15-18) with 15 points each.
1st HALF
Wright State jumped out to an early 18-8 lead at the 12:25 mark, making nine of its first 13 shots. RMU responded with an 11-0 run, sparked by back-to-back three-pointers from Smith, followed by a layup and a three-pointer from Folgueiras, putting the Colonials ahead 19-18. With the score tied at 28-28 at the 4:48 mark, RMU closed the half on a 13-0 run over the next 4:34, with five different players contributing. Alex Huibregtse hit a three-pointer at the buzzer, sending the Colonials into halftime with a 41-31 lead.
2nd HALF
RMU extended its lead to 17 points after a 12-2 run made it 53-36 at the under-16 media timeout. Wright State fought back, trimming the deficit to seven at 64-57 with 7:46 remaining. However, the RMU defense clamped down, allowing just two field goals the rest of the way.
Tanner O'Grady capped off the scoring with a fadeaway layup.

- RMU outrebounded WSU 36-25, with Folgueiras pulling down a team-high 10.
- The Colonials assisted on 18 of their 27 field goals, led by Smith's seven assists.
