INDIANAPOLIS – RMU (24-8) will face Oakland (16-17) in the semifinals of the 2025 Barbasol Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship on Monday night at Corteva Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
RMU LATELY
The Colonials secured the tournament's No. 1 seed by winning their first-ever Horizon League regular season championship with an 82-68 victory over IU Indy on February 27. RMU finished 15-5 in Horizon League play, finishing one game ahead of No. 2 seed Milwaukee and No. 3 seed Cleveland State. RMU advanced to the semifinals after an 83-62 victory over 8-seed Wright State on March 6.
 
OAKLAND LATELY
Oakland, the No. 6 seed, defeated No. 11 seed Green Bay 96-72 in the first round of the Barbasol Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship on March 4. The Golden Grizzlies then upset No. 3 seed Milwaukee 72-64 on March 6.
 
RMU AND OAKLAND HISTORY
RMU and Oakland first met in 2001 at the Sewall Center. The teams played three more nonconference games before RMU joined the Horizon League. In Horizon League contests, Oakland leads the series 6-4 and 10-4 overall. The Colonials swept the season series this year with a 79-71 victory in Rochester Hills on January 4 and a 73-71 win at the UPMC Events Center on January 25.

RMU IN THE HL CHAMPIONSHIP            
RMU has advanced to the semifinal round of the Horizon League Championship for the first time since joining the league in 2020-21. The Colonials are 3-4 all-time in the Horizon League Championship. Of their seven tournament games, five have been played on the road (1-4), while two have been at the UPMC Events Center (2-0). This will be the first time RMU and Oakland face each other in the Horizon League Championship.
