MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU softball team continues its eight-game homestand this weekend with a three-game Horizon League series against Purdue Fort Wayne. The action begins with a doubleheader on Friday, April 18 at 1:00 PM, followed by the series finale on Saturday, April 19 at 12:00 PM.
Cam Wickline and Gero von Dehn will have the call for Friday's games on ESPN+, with Spencer Witt and Cam Wickline on the broadcast Saturday.
RMU LATELY
The Colonials (20-13, 12-5 #HLSB) are coming off their first conference series loss of the season. After opening the weekend with a 4-1 win over Detroit Mercy, RMU dropped both ends of Sunday's doubleheader, 9-5 and 4-1.
In Friday's win,
Alaina Koutsogiani launched a solo home run and
Katlyn Jardine added an RBI.
Kaitlyn Molitoris picked up her seventh win with 6.2 strong innings, while
Madison DeVault earned her first save. On Sunday,
Jess Matheny smacked a three-run homer and both
Sequoia Dunlap and
Mary Brant drove in runs.
Brant leads RMU in batting average (.376), triples (3), home runs (8), and slugging percentage (.785).
Courtney Poulich also has eight home runs and three triples, along with team-highs in doubles (9), runs (32), and RBI (39).
Kaylyn Hopf leads in hits (38), while Jardine owns a team-best on-base percentage (.464) and leads in walks (18).
On the mound, DeVault leads the team with a 2.79 ERA, 10 complete games, and 74 strikeouts. Molitoris and
Madelyn Coleman each have one save. Defensively, catcher
Logan Black has a .989 fielding percentage, and
Anna Resnik (2B) holds a .979.

Senior
Anna Resnik is one run away from reaching 100 in her career. She's appeared in 179 games, recording 137 hits and 64 RBI.
SMART BASE RUNNING
RMU has stolen 43 bases on 49 attempts (.878), the second-most in the Horizon League. Koutsogiani leads with 13 steals (third in the conference), extending her program-record to 78. Hopf (7), Brant (6), and Poulich (6) round out RMU's most aggressive runners.
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE
The Colonials are 7-3 at home this season. At the North Athletic Complex, Matheny and Koutsogiani are each batting .367. Matheny leads the team with three home runs and 15 RBI at home, while Black and Jardine share the top on-base percentage (.409).
ALL-TIME VS. PURDUE FORT WAYNE
RMU holds a 10-5 edge over PFW dating back to 2006. The Colonials won two of three games in 2023, while the Mastodons took the series in 2024. In last season's matchup, Hopf led with two RBI, while Matheny and Resnik added one apiece. Hardy and DeVault recorded a win and a save, respectively.
SCOUTING THE MASTODONS
Purdue Fort Wayne (13-20, 9-6 #HLSB) comes into the series after a midweek loss to Cleveland State and currently sits fourth in the conference standings.
Junior Grace Hollopeter leads the team across most offensive categories, including batting average (.378), hits (37), doubles (10), home runs (8), RBI (37), slugging (.724), walks (15), and OBP (.475). Bailey Manos also has 37 hits and a team-high four triples.
In the circle, senior Alanah Jones carries a 3.66 ERA with nine wins, 13 complete games, and 84 strikeouts.
