Brant Named #HLSB Player of the Week

4/8/2025 2:00:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the third consecutive week, an RMU softball standout has earned recognition from the Horizon League. Freshman Mary Brant has been named the conference's Player of the Week following her clutch performance in last week's action.

Brant delivered walk-off hits in both games of the Colonials' doubleheader sweep over Northern Kentucky, lifting RMU to dramatic seventh-inning victories. Her heroics helped RMU extend its strong start in conference play.

In three games last week, Brant batted .417 (5-for-12), driving in four runs and scoring three. She added a double and launched a home run in the team's midweek matchup against Pitt.

One of the top offensive threats in the Horizon League, Brant currently ranks second in batting average (.390), first in slugging percentage (.883), and first in OPS (1.317). She also sits among the league leaders in several other categories, including third in RBI (28), second in doubles (8), and tied for first in both triples (3) and home runs (8).

Brant's honor marks RMU's sixth weekly award this season. She joins teammates Madison DeVault (2), Madelyn Coleman, Courtney Poulich, and Anna Resnik in receiving conference recognition.

The Colonials will return to action this week with a three-game Horizon League series at Youngstown State. A doubleheader is scheduled for Wednesday, April 9 at 3:00 PM, with the series finale set for Thursday, April 10 at 3:00 PM. All games will stream live on ESPN+.
