After a scoreless second inning, the Seminoles' offense exploded for five runs in the bottom of the third, extending their lead. They added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth, pushing the score to 10-0.

Facing their final at-bats in the top of the fifth, Matheny hit a double, followed by a single from Dunlap. Logan Black then reached on an error, allowing Matheny to score RMU's lone run. However, the final out was recorded, ending the game with a 10-1 victory for Florida State.
