MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Colonials fell just short in the MAC Championship game, losing 11-10 in overtime to Akron on Saturday afternoon.
With the defeat, Robert Morris concludes its season with an 8-11 overall record and a 4-2 mark in MAC play.

FIRST HALF
The game began slowly, with only one shot taken in the first four minutes. Akron struck first, but RMU quickly responded with a goal from
Samantha Brothers. The teams traded goals over the next several minutes, with evenly matched stats in draw controls, ground balls, and turnovers. With the score tied at two,
Madison Prietz burst into the circle and fired home a shot to give the Colonials a 3-2 lead heading into the second quarter.
The back-and-forth continued in the second frame, dominated early by both defenses. Akron tied the game at three at the 9:49 mark, but RMU answered with goals from freshmen
Mia Berthoff and
Vivian LaMange. Akron clawed one back, but neither team scored in the final six minutes, sending RMU into halftime with a narrow lead.

SECOND HALF
The third quarter played out in two distinct halves. RMU came out strong, scoring four straight goals from
Jenna Irwin,
Taylor Cadeau,
Eliana LaMange, and Berthoff. However, Akron responded with a surge of its own, scoring four unanswered goals in the final seven minutes of the quarter to trim the Colonials' lead to 9-8.
The fourth quarter was a defensive grind. Akron tied the game at 9 before Brothers gave RMU a 10-9 lead with just over a minute to play, capitalizing on a rebound with a strong individual effort. Akron refused to back down, and with just 21 seconds remaining, Noelle Boyd scored to send the game into overtime.
In the extra period, Akron won the opening draw and took multiple shots, but RMU held firm. However, a turnover in Akron's zone with under a minute left gave the Zips one last chance—and they took advantage. Jaelyn Clinkscales netted the game-winner, completing her four-goal performance and sealing the 11-10 overtime victory for Akron.
