MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Robert Morris men's lacrosse team saw its season come to a close in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, falling 14–9 to Air Force at Joe Walton Stadium on Wednesday evening. Despite a five-goal performance from
David Burr, the Colonials were unable to keep pace with a balanced and efficient Falcons offense.
Robert Morris (11–6) came out strong, with Burr opening the scoring less than a minute into the contest. He would go on to carry much of the offensive load, while
Joel McCormick added a goal and three assists. The Colonials excelled at the faceoff stripe, with
Bo Columbus winning 16 of 25.
Despite the early momentum, the Colonials quickly found themselves playing catch-up. Air Force, led by Caelan Driggs' five-goals and Josh Yago's five-point night (2G, 3A), took control with a 5–2 first-quarter lead and never looked back. Every time RMU made a push—cutting the deficit to two multiple times—Air Force responded with timely goals and solid possessions to keep the Colonials at bay.
Turnovers proved costly for Robert Morris, who committed 23 compared to 19 by the Falcons. Though RMU held a 41–36 advantage in ground balls and stayed even in extra-man opportunities (1-for-4), the offensive rhythm was disrupted too often to mount a consistent comeback.
Goalie
Nate Fechter made nine saves for the Colonials.
