MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Robert Morris University Department of Athletics today announced that the upcoming 2025-26 sports year will mark its 50th anniversary season in NCAA Division I. The celebration will honor five decades of tradition and legacy while looking ahead to the future of the Colonials' athletic programs.

The milestone year begins 50 seasons after the first athletic event on November 20, 1976, when the men's basketball team secured a victory over Delaware State at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena. RMU Athletics will commemorate this anniversary throughout the 2025-26 academic year with a celebration of its history and the introduction of a special gold RMU logo designed specifically for the occasion.

The anniversary season will be a tribute to the student-athletes, coaches, and staff who have contributed to the university's athletic success over the past half-century. It will also serve as a renewed commitment to the university's mission of building a strong foundation for future generations of Colonials.
