RMU Women’s Soccer Set for First Road Test at Eastern Michigan

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – After a three-game season-opening homestand, the RMU women's soccer team now prepares for its first road test at Eastern Michigan. The game is scheduled for Sunday, August 31, at 1:00 PM and will stream live on ESPN+.
 
RMU LATELY
RMU (2-1) is coming off two consecutive wins at home, with game-winning headers by sophomore Madison Hurst in both victories. Freshman Sydney Chontos picked up her first career goal against USI (8/21), while freshman Bailey Campbell recorded her first career assist. Paloma Swankler and Jillian Marvin (2) also produced assists against the Screaming Eagles.
 
Against Canisius, freshman Ivy Chaskelson passed out the game-winning assist for her first career point. In net, Emma Cameron has been a steady presence, posting two consecutive clean sheets along with six total saves.
 
Overall, defenders Shauna Gamble and Emerson Johngarlo along with Campbell have played all 270 minutes of the season so far.
 
DEFENSE FIRST
So far in the early season, the Colonials' defense has shined, ranking second in the Horizon League in goals allowed (3). RMU is only allowing 1.00 goals per game on average. Head Coach Michelle Rick's squad has allowed the least amount of shots on goal with only 12. Cameron's save percentage currently ranks third in the conference (.727).
 
ALL-TIME VS. EASTERN MICHIGAN
This will be the first-ever matchup between these two teams.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
EMU (1-2) is coming off its first win of the season, as it defeated USI, 3-1, a team RMU previously defeated 2-0. Prior to that, the Eagles lost their first two home games of the season, falling 4-0 and 1-0 to Cincinnati and UIC. The goal scorers against USI for EMU were Olivia Sipsock, Kaylee Synk and Rosalie Takacsy. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Ella Holland has started in all three games, earning one win along with nine saves. Sipsock was EMU's top goal scorer in 2024, scoring five goals and two assists.
 
In 2024, Eastern Michigan finished with a 7-6-5 overall record and 3-3-5 mark in conference play. Although the Eagles finished undefeated in the MAC in their final three games, they did not qualify for the MAC playoffs. As a team last season, they averaged .83 goals per game while allowing .78 goals per game on average.
 
COMMON OPPONENTS
Both teams are lined up to play Detroit Mercy, USI and Bowling Green this season.

On deck, RMU will return home to face another non-conference opponent in Bowling Green. The game is scheduled for Thursday, September 4, at 4:00 PM and will stream live on ESPN+.
