MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – After a hard-fought pair of road battles, the RMU men's soccer team is set to open its home schedule with a matchup against Mount St. Mary's. The Colonials will host the Mount on Monday, September 1, with kickoff slated for 4:00 p.m. at the North Athletic Complex. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Damen McDermott on the call.
RMU LATELY
RMU (0-0-2) begins its home season after a pair of challenging road ties. The Colonials showed their defensive resolve in the season opener against a tough Mercyhurst squad, battling to a 0-0 draw in which junior goalkeeper
Josh Lane earned his first clean sheet of the season with three crucial saves.
The team's offensive prowess was on full display in the following match at cross-town rival Duquesne. The Colonials burst out to a 2-0 lead with two well-executed set-piece goals. On the first, a long throw-in from
William Dodzi Afawubo was flicked on by
Victor Thompson, finding
Jack Bejarano at the back post for his first goal of the season. Minutes later, a rocket free kick by senior
Anass Hadran ricocheted off the crossbar, and freshman
Royie Rahamim got to the rebound first, heading in the first collegiate goal of his young career. While Duquesne fought back to a 2-2 tie, RMU's squad showed grit and poise on the road.
Through two games, senior captain
Fabian Overkamp along with Hadran and transfer
Kevin Gorbell have logged every single minute on the pitch.
