Rahamim’s Brace Leads RMU to Victory Over Saint Francis

LORETTO, Pa. – A two-goal performance from freshman Royie Rahamim led the Colonials to their first road win of the season, a 2-0 shutout victory over Saint Francis. With the win, the Colonials are off to an undefeated start with a 2-0-2 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
RMU struck first in the 25th minute on their very first shot of the game. After causing a turnover in the midfield, Anass Hadran laid the ball off to Kyle Schueneman, who dribbled past a defender and then found Rahamim near the net. Rahamim slotted the ball into the side panel, giving RMU a 1-0 lead.

RMU's defense was stellar throughout the first half, not allowing a single shot.

Early in the second half, Emeric Nicol was inches away from extending the lead as his shot just went wide.

In the 61st minute, RMU found their insurance goal. The Colonials drew a free kick near the corner flag, and Kevin Gorbell curled the ball in. Off the rebound, Rahamim was there to put the ball in the net for his second goal of the day.

Saint Francis pushed in the final 15 minutes, but senior captain Josh Lane stood tall, making two saves to complete the shutout victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
RMU doubled Saint Francis in shots with eight to their four and also held a 4-2 advantage in shots on target. Both teams finished with four corner kicks each. Four players on Saint Francis received yellow cards in the match. The Colonials controlled 54% of the possession, and defender Miguel Dominguez played the full 90 minutes.

BRACE
Forward Royie Rahamim has made an immediate impact, scoring three of RMU's five goals this season. The Perth, Western Australia native recorded his first career two-goal game and currently ranks first in the Horizon League in goals.

SHUTOUT STREAK
RMU has now gone over 190 minutes without allowing a goal. A key part of that shutout streak has been captain Josh Lane in net. Lane picked up his third clean sheet this season and the 10th of his career.

COLONIAL FIRST
Transfers Kevin Gorbell and Kyle Schueneman each recorded their first points as a Colonial, with both players earning an assist on the day.

UP NEXT
RMU continues its non-conference schedule on the road, next facing Niagara on Sunday, September 7 at 2:00 p.m. The game will stream live on ESPN+.
