MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Green Bay (12-10, 7-4 HL) defeated Robert Morris (13-9, 5-6 HL) 71-67 on Saturday at the UPMC Events Center. The Phoenix withstood a late surge from the Colonials to hold on for the Horizon League victory.
DeSean Goode led the charge for RMU with 17 points and 12 rebounds, recording his eighth double-double of the season.
Ryan Prather Jr. bolstered the offense, contributing 14 points and draining four 3-pointers alongside two steals.
Green Bay was paced by Justin Allen, who scored 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds. C.J. O'Hara topped Green Bay's scoring with 18 points, sinking 6-of-7 from the free-throw line and pulling down five rebounds. Caden Wilkins complemented the offensive efforts with 17 points, fueled by five 3-pointers.
1st HALF
The game began with the Colonials taking an 8-2 lead following a Prather 3-pointer at 17:28. Green Bay responded with a 14-0 run, including seven points from O'Hara, to lead 16-10 at the 13:24 mark. The Phoenix extended their advantage to 11 points at 40-29 after a Wilkins 3-pointer with 1:25 remaining in the half. RMU closed the period with consecutive baskets from Goode, bringing the halftime score to 40-33 in favor of the Phoenix.
2nd HALF
RMU reclaimed the lead at 41-40 early in the second half following a Hill 3-pointer at 17:39. Green Bay answered 40 seconds later, scoring 12 unanswered points to lead 52-41 by the 13:58 mark. At 6:43 remaining, back-to-back 3-pointers from Prather and Hill initiated a 10-2 Colonials run, cutting the Phoenix lead to 64-60 with 3:28 left.
In the final minute, Green Bay led 68-60 before O'Hara was assessed a technical foul for hanging on the rim at 45.4 seconds.
Albert Vargas made the technical free throw, and Prather followed with a 3-pointer at 36.2 seconds to make it a four-point game. After two Allen free throws, Goode hit a 3-pointer with 9.7 seconds left to bring the score to 70-67. Although Hall missed the ensuing free throw, the Phoenix defense forced an RMU turnover on the final possession to secure the victory.
UP NEXT
The homestand concludes on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. with a rematch against IU Indy at the UPMC Events Center. The contest will be broadcast live on SportsNet Pittsburgh. RMU will close out the month of January on the road at Purdue Fort Wayne on Jan. 31.
