RMU Women’s Soccer Earns a Point at Detroit Mercy

Cameron earns her 10th career clean sheet

DETROIT, Mich. – The RMU women's soccer team battled Detroit Mercy to a scoreless draw Thursday night in Detroit. With the tie, the Colonials extended their unbeaten streak to three games and moved to 5-4-2 overall and 2-1-1 in Horizon League play.

FIRST HALF
Both teams had early opportunities before Detroit Mercy's Katy Layman was issued a yellow card. Following a successful challenge by RMU head coach Michelle Rick, the referee upgraded the decision to a red card, forcing the Titans to play a player down for the final 73 minutes of the match.

The Colonials created several chances for the remainder of the half, with Madison Sievering and Francesca Villa each looking to find the back of the net. However, RMU was unable to capitalize on its opportunities.

Late in the half, Detroit Mercy's Auden Stauffer struck the woodwork, but neither team found the breakthrough as the match remained scoreless at halftime.

SECOND HALF
Senior Joey Tomlinson provided another spark off the bench in the second half, recording two shots on goal. However, both attempts were turned away as the Colonials continued to search for the opening goal.

With just three minutes remaining in regulation, RMU generated one of its best scoring opportunities of the night, but Sievering's attempt sailed just wide of the net.

Despite holding a numerical advantage for much of the match, the Colonials could not find the game-winner as both teams settled for a scoreless draw and earned a point in the conference standings.
