FIRST HALF
Just 30 seconds into the match, RMU appeared to have an opportunity to take an early lead after a potential penalty kick was awarded. However, following video review, the call was overturned.
The Colonials continued to generate scoring opportunities, as
Joaquin Fazal put a shot on target that was saved by the PFW goalkeeper.
Riley Cotton collected the rebound and fired a follow-up attempt just over the crossbar.
Filip Jeppesen and
Giovanni Dennis also recorded shots near goal as RMU looked to break through, but neither could find the back of the net. After 45 minutes of play, the teams remained deadlocked at 0-0.
SECOND HALF
Two minutes into the second half, RMU's
Abdul Kamara and PFW's Brandon Razo were each issued yellow cards.
The Mastodons quickly applied pressure after the restart, recording three shots on target in a short span. Senior goalkeeper
Josh Lane turned away all three attempts to keep the match scoreless and preserve the Colonials' clean sheet.
With 15 minutes remaining, RMU pushed forward in search of a game-winning goal.
Nicholas Samways,
Jonah Geike,
Storm Johansen and Fazal each created promising scoring opportunities, but their attempts were either denied by the PFW defense or sailed just wide of the frame.
