Later in the period, MacKinnon struck again. After
Alaina Giampietro's shot hit the post, MacKinnon was positioned in front of the net to collect the rebound and extend the Colonials' advantage to 2-0. Brezenski picked up her second assist of the period on the play.

Kaitlyn Schooley carried the puck into the offensive zone before finding Giampietro in the slot. Giampietro fired a shot past the RPI netminder to make it 3-1.
The Colonials controlled play throughout the period, outshooting the Engineers 16-8 in the middle frame.
