PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The RMU men's hockey team will take center stage in Pittsburgh when the Colonials host in-state rival Penn State at PPG Paints Arena on Sunday, February 7, at 2:00 PM. The matchup will bring two Pennsylvania Division I hockey programs together at the home of the Pittsburgh Penguins for a special opportunity to showcase college hockey in the Steel City.
The game marks RMU's first appearance at PPG Paints Arena since January 2020, giving the Colonials another opportunity to compete on an NHL stage in front of their supporters, alumni, students, and hockey fans throughout the region.

PITTSBURGH'S COLLEGE HOCKEY TEAM
The Colonials and Nittany Lions will meet during the NHL All-Star break, providing an opportunity to put the spotlight on college hockey in Pittsburgh.
RMU has a history of playing significant games at PPG Paints Arena, including memorable victories over ranked teams such as Penn State, Miami (Ohio), Quinnipiac and UMass Lowell.

Derek Schooley. "We've played Penn State at PPG Paints Arena before, and we know what a special experience it can be for our players and our fans. We're looking forward to getting back on that ice and having the opportunity to represent RMU in front of our supporters in Pittsburgh."
The Colonials are 9-10 all-time when playing at PPG Paints Arena.

SERIES HISTORY
RMU and Penn State have met 12 times between 2012 and 2020, with the Nittany Lions holding an 8-4 advantage in the all-time series.
RMU's most recent victory over Penn State came at PPG Paints Arena during the 2015-16 season, when the Colonials defeated the No. 14 Nittany Lions, 6-4. Recent RMU Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Zac Lynch played a pivotal role in the win, scoring the game-winning goal and adding two assists in the three-goal contribution.
The programs have also shared the national spotlight throughout their series history. Penn State was nationally ranked during each of the last eight meetings between the teams, while RMU earned a No. 19 national ranking during the 2014-15 campaign.
Offensively, the Colonials have averaged 3.5 goals per game against the Nittany Lions and have never been shut out in the series. RMU recorded one shutout against Penn State, coming during the 2012-13 season in a 6-0 victory.
