ROCHESTER, Mich. – The RMU women's soccer team earned its second consecutive scoreless draw on its Michigan road trip, battling Oakland to a 0-0 tie. With the result, the Colonials move to 5-4-3 overall and 2-1-2 in Horizon League play while extending their shutout streak to four consecutive matches.
FIRST HALF
Joey Tomlinson recorded the first shot on goal of the match in the fifth minute, giving the Colonials an early opportunity to take the lead. Oakland responded with a dangerous chance of its own, as Ava Ruffino's shot struck the woodwork.
The remainder of the first half featured a midfield battle, with neither side able to generate much offensive momentum. Goalkeeper
Emma Cameron made one additional save to keep the Golden Grizzlies off the scoreboard as the teams headed into halftime tied 0-0.
SECOND HALF
Ten minutes into the second half, freshman
Morgan Gesinski nearly broke the deadlock with two shots on goal in quick succession. However, Oakland's goalie turned away both attempts to preserve the scoreless tie.
The Colonials continued to limit the Golden Grizzlies' offensive opportunities throughout the final 45 minutes. Oakland managed just one more shot on goal, coming in the 87th minute, but Cameron made the stop to secure her third save of the afternoon.
Neither team could find the breakthrough in the closing minutes, as both sides settled for a point in Horizon League play.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Oakland held a narrow 9-7 advantage in shots, while both teams recorded three shots on goal. RMU generated six corner kicks compared to four for the Golden Grizzlies. The Colonials also committed just four fouls, while Oakland was whistled for seven.

Alyssa Mella each played all 90 minutes for RMU. Oakland controlled 57% of the possession.
SHUTOUT STREAK
With its fourth consecutive shutout, RMU has now recorded seven clean sheets this season, putting the Colonials one shutout away from tying the program record of eight, set in 2009.
Behind Cameron's three saves against Oakland, the Colonials have extended their scoreless streak to 396 minutes, the third-longest in program history. The 2016 squad recorded a 408-minute shutout streak, while the 2009 team holds the program record at 496 minutes.
