MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU football team is set to play its final non-conference game of the 2026 season when it travels to Baltimore, Md., to take on Morgan State. Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, at 12:00 PM, with the game streaming live on ESPN+.
RMU LATELY
RMU (3-2, 1-0 #NEC) is coming off a 33-31 victory over Norfolk State last Saturday during Homecoming weekend. The Colonials were led by graduate quarterback
Carson Haggard, who threw for a career-high 296 yards and four touchdowns. He completed 20-of-28 passes for a career-best 71.4 completion percentage. Wide receiver
Jaqai Carter played a pivotal role in the victory, hauling in three touchdown passes while setting career highs with nine receptions and 171 receiving yards.
One of the biggest plays of the game came with 49 seconds remaining before halftime. Senior cornerback
Tahseen Howard scooped up a loose ball following a missed field goal attempt and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown.
Following their performances against the Spartans, Haggard was named the NEC Offensive Player of the Week, while Carter and
Amanuel Dickson were recognized as NEC Prime Performers. Dickson earned the honor for the second consecutive week after recording 11 total tackles, including seven solo stops.
BY THE NUMBERS
Through five games this season, Haggard has completed 84 passes for 1,068 yards and 12 touchdowns. Sophomore running back
Xavier Goulbourne leads the Colonials with 142 rushing yards and one touchdown, averaging 4.1 yards per carry.
Carter has recorded 23 receptions for 317 yards and five touchdowns. Sophomore wide receiver
Galen Combs is close behind with 307 receiving yards and five touchdowns, averaging 20.47 yards per catch. Carter and Combs are tied for the NEC lead in receiving touchdowns.
Defensively, Dickson leads the team with 52 total tackles and 31 solo stops. Dickson,
Jake Lopinto and
Antonio Martin have each recorded one interception. Sophomore defensive lineman
Asher Wilson leads the Colonials with 3.5 sacks for a loss of 18 yards.
ALL-TIME VS. MORGAN STATE
RMU is 1-1 all-time against Morgan State. The first meeting took place in Baltimore in 2011, when the Bears edged the Colonials, 13-12. RMU earned its first victory over Morgan State in 2013 at Joe Walton Stadium, posting a 31-14 win.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Morgan State (4-1, 0-0 #MEAC) enters Saturday's contest riding a three-game winning streak after victories over Virginia University of Lynchburg, Towson and Villanova. The Bears have scored 138 points over their last three games, averaging 46.0 points per contest.
Senior quarterback Cameron Edge has thrown for 1,156 yards and 10 touchdowns through five games while completing 69.83 percent of his passes. Redshirt senior running back Jordan Barnett leads the ground attack with 244 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Sophomore wide receiver Justin Perry has recorded 424 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while redshirt junior Joseph Towler has also hauled in three touchdown passes.
Defensively, redshirt sophomore linebacker Darius Jones leads the Bears with 27 total tackles and 17 solo stops. Sophomore defensive lineman Donovan Moyer paces the squad with 5.5 sacks for a loss of 33 yards. Dylan Davis, Justin McIlwain, Joshua Narh and Darius Searles have each recorded one interception.
