Prather Ties Career-High in RMU Men’s Basketball 85-68 Road Win at Cleveland State

CLEVELAND  — Ryan Prather Jr. tied his career-high with 25 points to lead Robert Morris to an 85-68 road victory at Cleveland State on Thursday night. RMU (17-10, 9-7 HL) has won three straight contests while CSU (10-16, 6-9 HL) drops its second consecutive game.

Darius Livingston added to the effort with 15 points, including three successful attempts from beyond the arc, and contributed defensively with two blocks. DeSean Goode delivered a strong performance, scoring 14 points and collecting  seven rebounds, while Kaleb Brown facilitated with five assists and chipped in eight points, hitting two 3-pointers.

For Cleveland State, Jaidon Lipscomb led the charge with 21 points, shooting 5-for-7 from the field and making eight of nine free-throw attempts. Chevalier Emery added 17 points, drilling three 3-pointers.

1st HALF
Robert Morris jumped out to an early advantage, establishing a six-point lead capped off by a Ta'Zir Smith and-1 that moved the score to 15-9 with 12:36 remaining in the period. The Colonials maintained their edge until the midway point of the half, when Lipscomb drained a 3-pointer to shift the momentum and give Cleveland State a 20-17 lead. That bucket was part of a larger 11-0 Vikings run, which Lipscomb punctuated with a block and a subsequent layup to extend the CSU lead to 22-17 at the 9:10 mark.

Trailing 30-24 later in the half, RMU regained control behind a spark from Prather, whose 3-pointer ignited a 14-0 surge that vaulted the Colonials ahead 38-30 with just over two minutes left. RMU maintained that pressure through the closing moments, scoring the final seven points of the frame to carry a 45-33 lead into the locker room.

2nd HALF
RMU carried their momentum directly into the second half, storming out of the gate with a 14-5 run to distance themselves further from Cleveland State. This surge was highlighted by another Prather 3-pointer, which extended the Colonials' advantage to 59-38 with 14:54 remaining in the game. RMU continued to dictate the pace from there, eventually pushing their lead to a game-high 22 points on two separate occasions. The second of those peaks came at the 3:03 mark, courtesy of a Prather triple that brought the score to 85-63 and effectively sealed the contest.
