RMU Women's Basketball Ends Regular Season with Home Win over Wright State

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball team secured a 62-50 win over Wright State to end the regular season with a record of 18-11 overall and 11-9 in the Horizon League and secured the six-seed in the 2026 Barbasol Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship.
 
FIRST QUARTER
  • Wright State started the contest on a 5-0 run before the Colonials' offense got started with a three-pointer from Myriam Traore to make it 5-3 in favor of the Raiders with 8:01 displayed on the clock.
  • A huge 12-0 run by the Raiders made it 21-7, as Wright State made five field goals, including going 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, before a jumper by Ava Leroux ended the Raider run and made the score at the end of the first quarter 21-9.
  • The Colonials' offense was held to just 27.3% shooting in the first quarter, as RMU was held to just 3-for-11 from the floor.
SECOND QUARTER
  • The Colonial offense came out hot to start the second quarter, going on a fast 12-0 run, led by five points from Noa Givon to tie the game at 21-all with 5:29 left in the half.
  • Wright State pieced together a 6-0 run to go back in front by eight, leading RMU 27-21 after a step-back three by Ellie Magestro-Kennedy.
  • Givon closed out the second quarter scoring with a layup to make it 27-23 off an Aislin Malcolm assist.
  • RMU defense locked down the Raiders in the second quarter, with the Colonials holding Wright State to just six points and 16.7% shooting from the floor.
THIRD QUARTER
  • Another huge run by the Colonials, this time a 14-0 run, put RMU out front by 10, leading Wright State 37-27 with 4:19 on the clock.
  • A 5-0 run by Wright State cut the Colonials lead down to just five, before RMU extended it back to nine following back-to-back baskets by the Colonials.
  • Wright State wrapped up the third quarter scoring with a made free throw by Claire Henson to make it 41-33 in favor of RMU heading into the final frame.
FOURTH QUARTER
  • The fourth quarter started with a quick Malcolm three-point shot to make it 44-33 with the Colonials leading by 11.
  • Leading up to the under-five media, Wright State outscored the Colonials 10-7, with a three-point basket by Traore making it 51-43 RMU.
  • Over the final five minutes, the Colonials outscored Wright State 11-7 behind five points from Aislin Malcolm to secure the 62-50 win over the Raiders. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
 
Myriam Traore and Aislin Malcolm were the lone double-digit scorers for the Colonials, with Traore leading the way with 19 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the floor, while Malcolm recorded 14 points in the win. On the glass, Jada Lee led RMU with eight rebounds, while Bailey Kuhns had seven and Eva Levingston had six. Kuhns, Levingston, and Lee all each recorded four assists as well in the win.
 
On the night, RMU shot 44.6%, going 25-for-56 from the floor and 6-for-17 from deep. The Colonials held Wright State to 31.4% shooting on the afternoon. Wright State's offense was led by Magestro-Kennedy with 16 points while Claire Henson and Olivia Brown pulled down a team-leading eight rebounds.
 
UP NEXT
Following a Purdue Fort Wayne upset win over Green Bay, the Colonials will now head to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to take on Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday night at the Gates Sports Center. Purdue Fort Wayne is the 5-seed while RMU secured the six-seed. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
