Robert Morris Men’s Basketball Begins Road Trip at Youngstown State

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Following their nationally televised victory over first-place Wright State on Wednesday, Robert Morris (15-10, 7-7 HL) begins a two-game Ohio road trip this Saturday. RMU heads to Youngstown State (12-12, 5-8 HL) looking to complete a regular-season sweep and build momentum before facing Cleveland State next Thursday. Tipoff at the Beeghly Center is 4:30 p.m..
 
RMU LATELY        
Led by a balanced scoring attack in their 72-66 win over the Raiders on Wednesday, the Colonials showcased a versatile offense with four players scoring in double figures: Ryan Prather Jr. (17), DeSean Goode (16), Darius Livingston (16), and Nikolaos Chitikoudis (12). This victory marked RMU's fourth win in their last six games, evening their conference record at .500 as they begin this pivotal road stretch.
 
YOUNGSTOWN STATE LATELY        
Youngstown State enters Saturday's contest coming off a dominant 90-61 road victory over Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday. The Penguins were an efficient, well-oiled machine, shooting an incredible 66.7% from the field (35-for-53) and had five players score in double figures. The 29-point win was their largest since January 10, 2013, when the Penguins defeated Detroit Mercy by 41 points with a final score of 101–60.
 
RMU AND YOUNGSTOWN STATE HISTORY  
The all-time series between Robert Morris and Youngstown State dates back to December 9, 1989, and remains one of the most evenly matched local rivalries in the Horizon League. Following RMU's 80–77 overtime victory on December 17, 2025, the teams have now met 33 times, with the series standing at 17–16 in favor of the Colonials. They are historically linked by Vaughn Luton, the only player in series history to have played for both programs. Luton began his career at Youngstown State for one-plus season (1984–86) before finishing at Robert Morris (1986–89).
 
RMU AND YOUNGSTOWN STATE LAST TIME OUT                     
In the first meeting between the teams this season on December 17, Robert Morris secured an 80–77 overtime victory at the UPMC Events Center. Despite a career-high 31 points from YSU's Cris Carroll, the Colonials overcame an early 10-point deficit by dominating the glass and forcing 22 turnovers, which they converted into 25 points. Ryan Prather Jr. led the Colonials with 19 points and hit the decisive go-ahead three-pointer with just 11 seconds remaining in the extra period.

UP NEXT
Following Saturday's road test in Youngstown, the Colonials continue their pivotal two-game Ohio road trip with a visit to Cleveland State on Thursday, February 12. RMU then returns home to the UPMC Events Center for a Sunday afternoon clash against Oakland on Sunday, February 15. The three-game stretch concludes with a high-stakes rematch on the road at Wright State on Sunday, February 22.
