Career-High 19 Points by Eva Levingston Leads Colonials Past Milwaukee In Overtime Thriller

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A career-high 19 points from Eva Levingston powered the RMU women's basketball team to a 71-64 overtime win over Milwaukee at home on Saturday afternoon.
 
FIRST QUARTER
  • RMU started the contest with a 6-0 run before Milwaukee scored two points on a pair of made free throws with 6:14 on the clock.  
  • The Colonials extended their lead to 12-4 after a pair of three-point baskets by Aislin Malcolm and Jada Lee gave the Colonials an eight-point lead at the media timeout.
  • The duo of Malcolm and Lee struck again, with the pair getting back-to-back three-point baskets to make it 20-8, forcing a Milwaukee timeout with 1:23 left in the first quarter.
  • Malcolm closed out the quarter for the Colonials with her third basket from deep to give RMU a 23-8 lead going into the second quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
  • The Milwaukee Panthers came out hot to begin the second quarter, going on a 9-2 run after the Panthers knocked down three three-point baskets to make it 25-17, forcing an RMU timeout.
  • Milwaukee brought the game within five following a deep three from Grace Lomen, making it 25-20 in favor of the Colonials with 7:16 to go.
  • The teams closed out the first half with Milwaukee outscoring RMU 6-4 over the last three and a half minutes to come within three of the Colonials, with RMU up 29-26.
THIRD QUARTER
  • The teams traded three-pointers to begin the second half, with Lee hitting one from the wing before Milwaukee answered back with one of their own from Lomen to make it 32-29 with 8:34 on the clock.
  • A 6-0 run by the Panthers cut the Colonials lead down to just one with RMU out-front 40-39
  • The Colonials put together a 5-0 run to make it 45-39 before Milwaukee ended the third quarter with a layup with 30 seconds on the clock to make it 45-41 going into the final quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
  • Despite a Myriam Traore layup to begin the quarter, a 4-0 run by the Panthers made it 47-45 with 8:33 remaining.
  • With 54 seconds on the clock, Milwaukee's Grace Lomen hit a three from the wing to tie the game up for the first time, making it 57-57.
  • Milwaukee missed a last-second jump shot to send the game to overtime.
OVERTIME
  • The Colonials came out fast in overtime, quickly going on an 8-0 run with four points apiece from Eva Levingston and Bailey Kuhns, to find themselves up 65-57 with just 1:53 remaining in overtime.
  • A pair of free throws from Milwaukee cut the Colonials lead down to three with just under 30 seconds on the clock before Jada Lee closed out the contest with a pair of made free throws to make it 71-54, giving the Colonials the overtime win. 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
A career-high 19 points from junior Eva Levingston led the Colonial offense. Levingston went 7-for-13 from the floor and 5-for-7 from the free-throw line while also recording seven rebounds. Aislin Malcolm was the next highest scorer with 18 on the afternoon. Malcolm also recorded five assists and went a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe. Bailey Kuhns contributed to the Colonial offensive push with 14 points on 6-for-14 shooting from the floor. Jada Lee rounded out the double-digit scorers with a double-double, featuring 13 points and a career-high 11 rebounds to lead RMU on the glass. This marks Lee's first-ever career double-double.  
 
For Milwaukee, Grace Lomen led all scorers with 30 points on 10-for-22 shooting on the afternoon. Lomen went 6-for-12 from beyond the arc.
 
As a team, the Colonials shot 37.9% from the floor, going 25-for-66. From the charity stripe, the Colonials went 14-for-16 to shoot 87.5% on the afternoon. On the glass, the Panthers held a slim 41-40 advantage over RMU, with Jorey Buwalda leading the rebounding efforts for Milwaukee with nine.
 
UP NEXT
The Colonials (16-8 overall, 9-6 HL) will head back on the road next Wednesday for a big matchup with rival Youngstown State (17-8 overall, 10-5 HL) at the Zidian Family Arena at Beegly Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 in Ohio and will be broadcasted on ESPN+
