MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Jade Doldo gave the Colonials their third win of the season with a game-winner in double overtime against Central Michigan, defeating the Chippewas 8-7 to open MAC play.
FIRST HALF
The Chippewas' offense attacked quickly and often in the first quarter, finding themselves out 4-0 with 6:37 before the Colonials finally broke through with an unassisted goal by
Taylor Burkett for her eighth goal of the season. Central Michigan closed out the quarter with one more goal, making it 5-1 after 15 minutes of play.
Mia Berthoff got her first goal of the game to start the second quarter, making it 5-2 with 8:33 on the clock. The Chippewas extended their lead back to four with a goal from Isabella Bainbridge before the Colonials closed out the quarter with two goals to make it 6-4.

Samantha Brothers before
Lea Otts got in on the scoring action with 1:49 off a pass from
Madison Prietz.
SECOND HALF
RMU attacked first in the second half, with Otts scoring her second goal of the game off an assist from
Mia Berthoff for a man-up goal, cutting the Chippewas' lead down to just one. Central Michigan scored the final goal of the quarter with 5:26, as Lili Sorenson scored unassisted to make it 7-5.
Two goals by Berthoff in the fourth quarter, marking her fifth hat trick of the season and twenty goals on the year, made it 7-7 at the end of regulation. Berthoff scored her first unassisted goal with 14:44 and answered against with just under 1:30 to go send it to overtime.
OVERTIME
The first overtime was a defensive battle with each team only allowing just one shot apiece, with RMU's lone shot coming on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net, sending the matchup to double overtime.
Jade Doldo would call the game with 3:41 on the clock as Doldo found the back of the net for her sixth goal of the season off a pass from
Mia Berthoff, to give the Colonials the 8-7 win, ending a three-game losing streak against Central Michigan.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Berthoff led the Colonials with three goals, along with two assists for her fifth hat trick of the season.
Lea Otts was second on the Colonials with two goals while also recording two caused turnovers.

Gabi Puzevic had the remaining goals for RMU.
Emma Hawks and
Samantha Brothers each had a major impact for the Colonials, recording four caused turnovers, with the Colonials totaling 22 on the afternoon.
Alison Utter led RMU with three draw controls on the afternoon.
Lucy Carney made her first start of the season, recording seven saves while allowing seven goals on the afternoon. Carney is now 2-0 on the season.
For Central Michigan, Julia Werner led the Chippewas with two goals on the afternoon. Ava Regitz posted a game-high seven draw controls.
