RMU Women's Lacrosse Falls on the Road to #13 Notre Dame in Non-Conference Clash

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The RMU women's lacrosse team fell 20-2 in a non-conference road matchup on Tuesday night against #13 Notre Dame to fall to 3-7 overall.
 
FIRST HALF
The Fighting Irish opened up the contest with three quick goals before the Colonials struck for their first goal of the night. With 7:39 on the clock, Jade Doldo found the back of the net off an assist from Lea Otts for her eighth goal of the season to make it 3-1, marking four straight games in which Doldo has scored a goal. Notre Dame closed out the first quarter with a 3-0 scoring run, bringing the score to 6-1 after the first 15 minutes.
 
In the second quarter, the Fighting Irish extended their lead to 13 as Notre Dame put up eight goals, closing out the half up 14-1 over the Colonials.
 
SECOND HALF
A 4-0 run by the Fighting Irish put Notre Dame up 18-1 before RMU ended its scoring drought on a woman-up goal by midfielder Gabi Puzevic with 2:17 left in the quarter. Puzevic's goal marked her eighth of the season for the freshman. At the end of the third quarter, the Colonials trailed Notre Dame 18-2.
 
Notre Dame recorded two more goals in the fourth quarter, one at 14:17 and one at 4:48, to give the Fighting Irish the 20-2 victory over RMU. The Colonials were held to just one shot in the fourth quarter.
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
Jade Doldo and Gabi Puzevic each recorded a goal on the night, marking the eighth goal of the season for both. Lea Otts dished out the only assist for the Colonials on Doldo's first-quarter goal. On the evening, the Colonials recorded seven draw controls led by Jenna Evans and Alison Utter, each with a pair. Evan's also led the Colonials with three groundballs and four of the Colonials' seven caused turnovers.

As a team, RMU took seven shots, with five coming on goal while the Fighting Irish put up 38 shots, with 28 being on goal. Lucy Carney went the distance in net for the Colonials, recording 14 saves on the night while allowing 20 goals.
 
For the Fighting Irish, Kate Timarky and Madison Rassas led the way with four goals each, while Timarky also led Notre Dame in assists on the afternoon with four. Ceici Patterson started in goal for Notre Dame, allowing just two goals while recording four saves for the win. Isabel Pithie came on in relief for the final 15 minutes.
 
UP NEXT
The Colonials (3-7, 1-1 MAC) will return back home on Saturday afternoon as RMU will host UMass in a MAC matchup at Joe Walton Stadium. First draw is scheduled for noon.
