ERIE – The RMU women's lacrosse team closed out the road portion of its 2026 schedule with a 12-10 victory over the Mercyhurst Lakers on Wednesday evening.
FIRST HALF
The first quarter of action started with two goals from the Lakers before the Colonials got on the board with back-to-back goals.
Amanda Dolis started the scoring for RMU with a woman-up goal, assisted by
Greta Burns, to get the Colonials on the board with 7:08 on the clock. With 3:26 left in the first quarter,
Mia Berthoff tied the contest up with a woman-up unassisted goal, before the Lakers closed out the first quarter scoring with 58 seconds left to lead 3-2 at the end of the first 15.
Madison Prietz got the Colonials' second-half scoring started first, with a goal at 12:58 off an assist from
Lea Otts to knot the score up at three. The Lakers answered back with a goal from Whitley Easton, before
Gabi Puzevic got in on the action with an unassisted goal with 4:07 left in the half to make it 4-4. Another Lakers goal would make it 5-4 with just over two minutes to go before
Greta Burns made her mark with a goal at 1:17 to tie it up at 6-6 going into the half.
SECOND HALF
The Lakers took back the lead early in the third quarter as Whitley Easton scored her third goal of the contest for Mercyhurst to make it 6-5. The Colonials would answer back a minute later as Berthoff found the back of the net for her second goal of the contest, tying it back up with 12:25 to go. RMU then took their first lead of the contest as Dolis connected on her second goal, this time off a pass from Berthoff, to make it 7-6 before Easton struck again for the Lakers, tying the contest back up. Burns would take back the lead for the Colonials with 6:25 left in the third, finding the back of the net off a pass from
Lily Robertson, making it 8-7 to close out the third quarter scoring.
Back-to-back goals by the Colonials gave RMU a 10-7 lead, with
Taylor Cadeau striking at 12:42 for a woman-up goal off a pass from Otts to make it 9-7. Prietz extended the Colonials' lead to three, scoring at 9:25 unassisted for her second goal of the night. The Lakers would end the scoring run as Emma Cimino made it a two-goal game before the Colonials once again struck for back-to-back goals.
Taylor Burkett got in on the action with 5:49 left, scoring an unassisted woman-up goal before Puzevic struck again just 49 seconds later to make it 12-8, giving the Colonials their biggest lead of the afternoon. A late push by Mercyhurst, back-to-back goals, wouldn't be enough as the Colonials were able to lock out the Lakers for the final two minutes of the contest to secure the 12-10 win.
MAGIC NUMBER 100
In the win, freshman goalkeeper
Lucy Carney recorded her 100
th save of the season and her career, posting six saves in the win. Carney is now 4-6 on the season and has recorded 103 saves in 13 games played.

Five Colonials scored multiple goals in the win, with
Greta Burns,
Gabi Puzevic,
Mia Berthoff,
Madison Prietz, and
Amanda Dolis all scoring two goals apiece.
Taylor Burkett and
Taylor Cadeau rounded out the other goal scorers for RMU. Along with her two goals,
Madison Prietz dominated the draw control, recording seven on the afternoon along with three groundballs. Berthoff also doubled down in the stats sheet, also posting a team-leading four caused turnovers to go along with her two goals.
For Mercyhurst, Whitley Easton (5) and Emma Ciminio (4) did the heavy work for the Lakers, scoring nine of the team's 10 goals on the evening. Easton also led the Lakers in draw controls, recording six.

RMU will return to Moon Township with a 5-11 overall record and is slated to host Detroit Mercy (0-11, 0-6 MAC) on Saturday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium for the Colonials' regular-season finale, slated for a 1:00 p.m. draw. Following the contest, the Colonials will honor its three seniors.
