STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Robert Morris completed a perfect conference slate on Saturday afternoon after securing a 16-6 victory over Wagner to finish the regular season undefeated in NEC play for the first time since 2012. With the win, the Colonials (12-3, 7-0 NEC) extended their winning streak to 11 games dating back to February 20, while the Seahawks (5-8, 3-4 NEC) see their regular season come to a close.
Dylan Anderson scored three goals on 10 shots, with six on target.
Ben Eck delivered an impactful performance by scoring three goals, including the game-winner, and adding two assists.
Nate Fechter made a strong presence in goal, recording 12 saves while facing 27 shots.
Cristian Davis excelled at the faceoff circle for RMU, winning 15 of 24 attempts and collecting 11 ground balls.
Jake Mitchell led the Seahawks with two goals, one assist, and a total of seven shots, five of which were on goal. Mitchell also recorded an extra-man goal and an unassisted tally. Angus Snow notched 21 saves for the home team while facing a total of 58 shots.
First Quarter
The match started with the Colonials establishing an early advantage, as
Luke Prezioso netted the first goal, assisted by Eck, just 31 seconds into play. RMU continued its momentum with Eck scoring again at 11:56, extending the lead.
The Colonials maintained their offensive pressure, with
Calum Brennan,
Joel McCormick, and Anderson each contributing goals to push the score to 6-1. The quarter concluded with another goal from Eck at 0:13, solidifying a 7-1 lead for the visitors at the end of the first.
Second Quarter
RMU took control early in the second quarter with a quick succession of goals. Anderson scored just 29 seconds into the frame, assisted by
Callum Witter. McCormick and
Luis Gonzalez followed with goals at 13:59 and 13:43, respectively, extending the lead to 10-1.
Tommy Mullikin and Anderson added two more goals, with Anderson's tally coming off a McCormick assist at 8:00.
Owen Tapper capped off the quarter with a goal at 1:14, assisted by
Liam Blakely, leading to a 13-3 advantage for the Colonials at the half.
Third Quarter
The Seahawks found their defensive footing and held RMU scoreless throughout the period, closing the gap to 13-6.
Fourth Quarter
The Colonials opened the final frame with a goal by Eck at 13:37, assisted by Mullikin.
Graeme MacLennan extended the lead with a goal at 12:30, assisted by Eck.
Rowan Hynes scored with just two seconds remaining, sealing the 16-6 victory for RMU.
