MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU softball team will wrap up the 2026 regular season and close out Horizon League play with a three-game series at Detroit Mercy. Game one is set for Friday, May 1 at 3:00 PM, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, May 2 beginning at 12:00 PM. All three games will stream live on ESPN+.
RMU LATELY
RMU (24-16, 8-7 #HLSB) closed out its home slate with a series split against Canisius. In game one, the Colonials rallied from an eight-run deficit to earn an 11-10 extra-inning victory.
Eloise Facher powered the comeback with a home run and a walk-off double, finishing with a career-high five RBIs. Catcher
Aglaia Rudd added her 15th double of the season, setting a new program single-season record.

CONFERENCE PLAY BY THE NUMBERS
RMU is currently tied for second in the Horizon League with an 8-7 record, including a 6-3 mark at home.
Through 15 conference games, Rudd leads the team with a .489 batting average and a .552 on-base percentage. Poulich has totaled 10 home runs, 24 hits, 27 RBIs and 18 runs in league play, along with a 1.113 slugging percentage.
As a team, RMU has hit 30 home runs in Horizon League action while allowing just 13. In the circle,
Madelyn Coleman has recorded four conference wins, while
Kaitlyn Molitoris leads the staff with 37 strikeouts.
MORE RECORDS AND MILESTONES ON THE HORIZON
Poulich has tied the Horizon League single-season RBI record (78) and needs just one more to break a mark that has stood for 27 years. She also sits two runs shy of the program's all-time runs record with 129.
Facher's sixth triple of the season tied the program record, originally set by Patty Morrison (1992) and Leissa Sabatini (1993).
The Colonials have also set a new program record for hits in a season (441 and counting). RMU enters the weekend just one double shy of the program record (79) and two triples shy (17).
In the circle, Coleman is one strikeout away from 200 in her career. Molitoris has 175 career strikeouts and is eight away from 100 this season. Hopf is three runs shy of 100 in her career, while Rudd is 10 RBIs away from reaching the century mark.
ALL-TIME VS. DETROIT MERCY
Dating back to 1991, RMU is 13-10 all-time against Detroit Mercy and 9-5 against the Titans since joining the Horizon League.
Last season, RMU dropped its lone conference series to Detroit Mercy. In that matchup,
Mary Brant,
Sequoia Dunlap and
Katlyn Jardine each recorded an RBI, while
Kaitlyn Molitoris earned a win with seven strikeouts over 6.2 innings.
SCOUTING THE TITANS
Detroit Mercy (14-27, 6-9 #HLSB) enters the weekend after dropping five of its last six games against Northern Kentucky and Oakland. The Titans currently sit sixth in the Horizon League standings.
Trinity Fessler leads the team in batting average (.316), hits (31) and RBIs (18). Jenna Higgins owns a team-best .417 on-base percentage, while Wendy Ketola has scored 24 runs.
In the circle, Savannah Schultz leads the pitching staff with a 4.98 ERA, 10 wins and 89 strikeouts, while Erin Flynn has recorded two saves.
PLAYOFF SCENARIOS
Youngstown State has clinched the No. 1 seed and will host the Horizon League Championship.
RMU has secured a postseason berth and can finish anywhere from second to fifth. The Colonials can earn a first-round bye by finishing with more wins this weekend than Northern Kentucky and Oakland.
Oakland, NKU and Detroit Mercy can still finish between second and sixth, while Green Bay can place anywhere from fourth to sixth. IU Indy will be eliminated with either one loss or one Detroit Mercy win.
UP NEXT
RMU will compete in the Horizon League Championship for the sixth consecutive season and remains the only program in the conference to qualify every year since 2021. The tournament is scheduled for May 6–9 in Youngstown, Ohio.
