MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Junior catcher
Aglaia Rudd capped off the regular season in historic fashion, sweeping multiple national weekly honors. She was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I Player of the Week, Softball America Player of the Week and D1Softball Mid-Major Player of the Week.
Rudd becomes the first Colonial in program history to earn a weekly award from both NFCA and Softball America. She is also the second RMU student-athlete to be recognized as a D1Softball Mid-Major Player of the Week, joining
Courtney Poulich, who earned the honor earlier this season.
Rudd delivered a dominant performance at the plate over the final week of the regular season, batting 12-for-21 (.571) with a .591 on-base percentage. Seven of her 12 hits went for home runs, including six in RMU's series sweep over Detroit Mercy — setting a new program record for home runs in a series. She also blasted three home runs in a single game against the Titans, tying another program record.
In total, Rudd drove in 15 runs, scored 11 times and posted a 1.619 slugging percentage. She also added a stolen base and a walk during the five-game stretch.
On the season, Rudd is hitting .551 with 60 RBIs, 54 runs scored, 21 home runs and 15 doubles. She owns a 1.125 slugging percentage and a .584 on-base percentage, while recording a .995 fielding percentage behind the plate.
Nationally, Rudd continues to rank among the elite. She is currently the only player in Division I who has not struck out this season. She ranks second in the nation in batting average, third in slugging percentage, sixth in home runs per game (0.51) and ninth in RBIs per game (1.46).
Rudd and the Colonials now turn their attention to postseason play, opening the Horizon League Championship against Detroit Mercy on Wednesday, May 6 at 2:30 PM.
