CAMDEN, N.J. - The Colonials opened up day one of the Dad Vail Regatta on Friday, competing in multiple races on the Cooper River in Camden, New Jersey, with the Frosh/Novice 4+ and 2V4+ A crews advancing to the "A" finals on Saturday
FROSH/NOVICE 4+
The Frosh/Novice 4+ started the day off with the fastest time out of 11 in their first time trial, crossing with a time of 7:48.329 before securing a spot in the "A" finals by finishing first in the semi-finals with a time of 08:04.990, beating crews from Miami, Drake, Jefferson, and William & Mary. The crew will now advance to the "A" finals tomorrow, which are slated to begin at 8:10 a.m.
2V4+ RACES
In the 2V4+ race, the Colonials had two teams entered, with the 2V4+ A and 2V4+B each having good showings on the day. The 2V4+ A started the day out with a ninth-place push in their time trial, finishing in a time of 8:31.621, while the 2V4+ B finished in fifth with a time of 08:05.175. In the semifinals, the 2V4+ A advanced to the "A" finals with a second-place finish in the semi-finals, with a time of 08:31.650, while the 2V4+ B crew will compete in the "B" finals after finishing fourth in the semi-final race with a time of 08:57.350. The 2V4+ A crew will hit the water again at 9:10 a.m. tomorrow, while the 2V4+ B crew is slated to race at 3:10 p.m.
V4+
In the V4+ race, the Colonials finished in fourth in their time trial, finishing in 7:19.739 behind crews from Drexel, Mercyhurst, and Temple. The Colonials just missed advancing to the "A" finals, placing fourth in their semi-final race, crossing in 7:39.400, finishing ahead of crews from Florida Tech and Fordham. The V4+ crew will now race in the "B" final, which is set for 4:20 p.m.
