MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Drexel's Brian Salvino scored the game-winning goal with under three minutes remaining to lift the Dragons to a 2-1 victory over RMU Thursday afternoon at the North Athletic Complex. The Colonials are now 0-1 to open the 2026 campaign.
FIRST HALF
Drexel recorded four shots and three corner kicks through the first 30 minutes of play but was unable to find the back of the net.
RMU opened the scoring when
Riley Cotton was taken down in the box, earning the Colonials a penalty kick. Cotton stepped up and placed his shot into the bottom-right corner to give RMU a 1-0 lead and score the Colonials' first goal of the season.
The Dragons answered less than eight minutes later, converting a penalty kick to even the match at 1-1.
Drexel continued to apply pressure late in the half, earning four corner kicks over the final five minutes, but RMU's defense held strong to keep the match tied heading into halftime.
SECOND HALF
Drexel's Daniel Celso was issued a yellow card in the 60th minute as both teams continued to battle for the lead.
Later in the half,
Josh Lane was called for a foul inside the box, giving Drexel a penalty kick opportunity. Lane quickly made up for the foul, making a diving save to keep the match tied.
With just over three minutes remaining, Salvino was issued a yellow card but remained in the match. He would prove to be the difference-maker moments later, scoring in the 88th minute to give Drexel a 2-1 lead.
RMU was unable to find an equalizer in the closing minutes as the Dragons held on for the victory.

- Drexel outshot RMU, 12-4, including a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Dragons held a 13-4 edge in corner kicks.
- RMU was called for 18 fouls, while Drexel committed 15 fouls and received two yellow cards.
- Senior goalkeeper Josh Lane made three saves in net.
- Miguel Dominguez and Abdul Kamara played all 90 minutes for the Colonials.
