MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU volleyball team picked up its first win of the 2026 season in convincing fashion Friday night, sweeping Siena, 3-0, at the UPMC Events Center.
The Colonials controlled the match from the opening serve, earning set victories of 25-15, 28-26 and 25-18 to improve to 1-9 on the season.
RMU's offense was clicking throughout the night, finishing with 66 kills on 141 attacks for a .376 hitting percentage. The Colonials also held advantages over Siena in kills, 66-33, assists, 61-31, and digs, 60-48.
Four Colonials set career highs in the victory.
Lauren Decker led all players with a career-high 19 kills, hitting .317 on 41 attacks. Layla Todd added 18 kills and recorded a career-high 12 digs. Kenlee Barnard orchestrated the RMU offense with a career-best 53 assists, while Maddie Siphakongviseth anchored the defense with a career-high 18 digs.
Decker and Todd combined for 37 kills, while Keira Hornung chipped in 12 kills on 22 attacks while hitting .455.
Siphakongviseth's defensive effort helped the Colonials finish with 60 digs as a team, while Anahi Alvarado contributed eight digs. Siphakongviseth also added a pair of service aces.
RMU came out firing in the opening set, recording 20 kills and hitting .292 on its way to a 25-15 victory. The Colonials were even more efficient in the second set, tallying 25 kills with just one error to hit .511 and take a 2-0 match lead.
RMU closed out the sweep in the third set with 21 kills and a .326 hitting percentage.
The Colonials return to action Saturday, continuing the Natale Sporting Goods Invitational at the UPMC Events Center against Maryland Eastern Shore. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
